New Editor Eff 08/15 - turn off ?

I do NOT want to switch to the New Editor, is there ANY way to keep the markdown (especially considering for the mobile app it isn't being updated!). I ask as all of my SOPs and Training Materials are based on the markdown NOT the new editor. Is there anyway to opt-out after 08/15 ?

very few people are still using the old Markdown editor

Do you have metrics on how much *text* is entered in the old Markdown editor vs. the new WYSIWYG editor?  The number of users who only view boards or make minimal contributions to card text is likely higher than the number of users who write and edit cards.  Those of us who create and edit text on cards don't want to stylize a card's details by clicking buttons or having to undo automatic styling when pasting links or have paragraphs automatically double-spaced.  There's a reason we don't use Microsoft Word to make notes or write code.  Give these "very few" power users the option to maintain speed and efficiency with the simplified Markdown editor and force everyone else to use the WYSIWYG editor.  Don't force users who have been using this powerful and streamlined tool for years to now write with crayons.

Hello, Shannon!

There will not be a way to go back to the old mode after August 15. I know that's disappointing, so I want to share a little more about why we've made this decision.

At this point, very few people are still using the old Markdown editor. For a long time, there wasn't much downside to keeping it around for people who preferred it, so we were happy to leave it as an option. However, that's no longer the case—continuing to support both of these experiences would slow us down—and so we had to make the tough call to remove the old Markdown editor from the small number of people who were still using it.

I know that this isn't the news you were hoping for, but I hope that helps give some context to this decision.

Kind Regards

Hi Alisson!

Thank you for the explanation! I'm curious: How many users is ‘very few’? And what percentage of your user base does this represent?

By the way, when you have a thread full of users begging you to leave the option of raw Markdown editing (1), I think leaving it is worth a small amount of slowdown.

Best,

Richard

PS. I tried to paste the link after the opening parenthesis above and it was inserted at the end of this text. Wherever I try to paste, it appears at the bottom. So it took me less than a day to find a defect in the new editor – assuming that the editor here and in Trello are the same.

Thanks for the info Alisson - comment is appreciated.

This is a disappointing decision by Atlassian, but not the first.
