When I use the markdown [text](link), the new editor will always include an extra ) when I'm done editing stuff. It will correctly link the text, but it'll become something like `Linkedtext)` with the closing parenthesis unlinked.

Yes, and this "extra" disrupts my whole automation...I don't know why this is necessary...

The new editor is handy, but I need to have some 2nd- or 3rd-level items in my list. I can't figure out how to indent them other than to switch back to the markup language.

I don't see an option on the Bulleted List menu, and there doesn't appear to be a keystroke that will work, either.

Am I missing something?

Nooooooo! Not another WYSIWYG editor that gets between me and Markdown. Please PLEASE make it possible to avoid this editor.  (I see from a comment above that you can turn it off, although why this wasn't explained ahead of time is beyond me.)

By this point in my career I have had to endure literally dozens of markdown editors and all of them have niggling problems. I don't want to take away from people who do not know markdown. But I don't want to be a guinea pig for semi-successful editors.

More importantly, WYSIWG is zero value and restricts the markdown that is used. Full GH flavoured markdown would be very welcome indeed. Along with the ability to drop in dot notation, maths notation etc.

HAllO Trello Team, why on earth you have to change inserted links??? Please Reply: what for, what sense does this make??? Need to know how far I can rely on Trello or do I finally have to move to something like Odoo

Wanted to enter:

EP https://trello.com/c/Spepauuo

(which is a command in my ERP system to move an asset to a new customer)

And Trello just changes this to

EP [https://trello.com/c/Spepauuo](https://trello.com/c/Spepauuo "smartCard-inline")

Don't get it? Inserted it looks the same as before, but when you look at the details you see all this superfluous details

(I have disabled the new Editor, but still the comment section is still using it!!!)

EVEN WORSE:

The new Editor will most likely not be available in the android Trello App?

-> This means I have to create for each BOT/COMMAND/BUTLER RULE two sets of rules one to work in the Browser, one to work in the Android App!!!

What a mess !!!

How can we switch the editor to markdown only?

I understand one can include format using markdown but I want to read and edit my content in marckdown only (aka I do not need the fancy UI).

The new editor is good for normal users, but it's not easy for advanced users and/or developers.

I'm using Markdown to format some links, I don't like the new editor's auto linking, it sometimes gets my links wrong.

The new editor sometimes automates formatting that I don't want.

For example, I can't correctly paste a OneNote page link to the editor.

Please give the user an option to always use the plaintext-markdown editor!

Thanks!

This appears to be broken. E.g. adding bullet points through markdown just results in `* point` (yes, with a space after the `*`).

Further, typing paths like /tmp has unexpected results.

A link to a Trello Card in the Description or as a comment or Checklist Item, used to show the Card Name of the linked card

Now it just shows advertisement how great Trello is (useless information because I already use Trello)

Anyone knows how to revert that?

@vertikaldienst Links to Trello cards should still be displaying the name of the linked card. Could you share an example of the URL you're using and a screenshot of what you're seeing? Feel free to remove any identifying information from the URL; I just need to see the structure of the URL.

Hi!

I cannot see my colleague activity!!!!! Just mine... Please HELP.

Emil Snorre Alnæs July 4, 2023

Is this setting per-browser or per-user? I just had to disable it again, unexpectedly, as markdown stopped working again.

This "clippy for trello" mode does not work as advertised and I would appreciate not having to turn it off repeatedly in order to be able to use markdown.

@Emil Snorre Alnæs The setting is per-browser, not per user.

I'm having issues with the description not saving my changes. Is there a character limit or something you can think of that maybe causing this?

Hi, can you integrate a highlighting text feature? That would be awesome.
When will this editing feature be available for mobile use?

I see that Bold and Italic have now been moved into the More Formatting dropdown. This just adds more clicks to the process.

Disappointing!

Please keep the option to turn this off forever! WYSIWYG editors are cancer. I don’t want to look for a Trello alternative.

Please STOP changing the Cover Colors! If you want different colors, please just add more and don't change the existing colors. I use different colors to represent different things and it really messes things up for me when they keep getting changed.

I hate the new editor so much. You've finally taken away the plain text markdown editor completely.

The new editor is

  • slow
  • fiddly
  • terrible
  • keyboard unfriendly

For the love of god allow an account wide disabling of this change.

I appreciate that the average user doesn't get markdown, but I do, and I hate this change.

I used to love trello but this makes me hate it every time I edit a card or write a comment.

Simple markdown plus a rendered view was fast and effective.

In the editor, there is a way to see the markdown it uses.  Can I EDIT in that markdown?

The reason I switched to trello in the first place was the super simple and effective editing it gave me.  For example, I email something to a card, it invariably would show up all mangled because Outlook sucks.  So I would just go in and fix it, no big deal.  But now I can't easily do that.  I can SEE in the markdown where it is messed up but the editor makes me jump through all kinds of hoops to fix it.  I think it's great that you added more editing options, I'm just really frustrated by not having the powerful ones as well.

So my questions in priority order:

  • Can I turn off this editor?
  • Assuming I can't, can I edit in Markdown?
  • Assuming I can't, and I have what I see, can I have a way to clear ALL formatting?  The clear formatting function today is a bit broken, e.g., I can't clear formatting to remove a code block.

@Tim Abell @Rey You can still turn it off here:

https://trello.com/u/YOUR_USER_NAME/labs

(Obviously edit that to replace YOUR_USER_NAME)

Received a notification today (in a distracting card header) that this will be a forced change as of the 15 August. Very disappointed with the continuing trend to de-technify Trello and other Atlassian tools.

Please do not enforce this change - I would strongly prefer to continue to use the markup text editor.
