Lists in search results

It boggles my mind that back in 2018 there are discussions/questions here about why lists do not show up in search results.   I cannot figure it out myself.  I have the following scenario:

1. Board with each list representing a client by name like this in the list name:  Company Name (Contact Name).

2. When I search for any portion of the company name or contact name, it will only show cards that have the same name in them.  It should find the list.

Is there any way to have trello display lists in results and not just cards?

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the community.

The search operators that are provided with vanilla Trello don’t have a way to display lists as results. Sure, there is a search operator list:name but that doesn’t satisfy your exact use-case since the results still return cards within the a desired list, as opposed to the name of the list itself.

That being said, there is a (paid) Trello Power-Up called Advanced Search that allows you to filter and display lists as a result.

Best,

Hamza
