Is it possible via 'project automation' to check if a smart checklist is checked or not?

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to block the closure(or revert the issue status to in progress) of a Task or Sub-Task if any unchecked smart checklist item exists.

Is there a way to check this condition via automation ?

Thanks,

Sergio

Hi, @Sergio Barbutti

You absolutely can use Smart Checklist to block the closure of tasks with unchecked items. Here's a link to the detailed guide showing how you can do it.

You can also do the opposite and automatically move tasks with all of the checklist items closed to the next state if that's something you are looking for.

Please let me know if you need any further help

Hi @Sergio Barbutti

Welcome to the Community!

It looks like you posted this question under Trello, but selected Jira as a tag. As far as I'm aware, Smart Checklist is an app for Jira, so in the future, you might have a hard time getting replies about it in the Trello community.

Having said that, I'm not prepared to answer your question in detail, but the functionality you're looking for is called validation. I've found this documentation page related to validators in Smart Checklist public confluence. It looks like it should be possible with Smart Checklist. Keep in mind that Regex validators return pretty ugly error messages when the condition is not met.

I know for sure that our Issue Checklist for Jira comes with built-in validators that let you make sure the checklist is completed upon transition, and communicate clearly about the reason why a transition failed.

If Smart Checklist is the app of your choice, I recommend reaching out to the Railsware support team if you run into any trouble with setting up the validator.

Cheers!

Thanks for your time.. I realized I posted it in the wrong place, but didn't find a way to fix it...

I did find a similar post on Jira section. I'll investigate it better there..

Thanks Again,

Sergio
