How to update due date on linked cards when making changes to the date of the original card?

I have read the articles on synchronizing, and I am still having trouble figuring out how to create a rule to add and/or update a due date on a linked card when a change is made on the original card.  I have figured out how to move the due date by the same number of days, but that only works if the linked card has a due date to begin with.  It doesn't help me add a date to a linked card when adding or editing a trigger card.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, this is irritating because the automation doesn't have a way of setting the linked card to the variable {triggercardduedate} in 1 step

A workaround is to use a custom field to capture the date.  It requires 2 automations:

1)

When a custom field is set in a card, find the first card linked in attachments and set the custom field "Due Date" to {triggercardduedate}

2)

When the custom field "Due Date" is set in a card, set the due date on the date in custom field "Due Date"
