I would like to transition a Jira issue to Done when a Trello card is moved to a different list. The Jira issue and the Trello card are linked using the Jira powerup in Trello.
The example here is for new employee onboarding. When we hire a new person, we fill out a request in Jira Service Management. This automatically creates a Trello card with a checklist of the various onboarding things that need to happen and attaches the Jira issue to the Trello card as having been linked with the Jira powerup. I've already done this and it works just fine.
The part that I need help with is transitioning the Jira issue to Done when the Trello card moves to the Done list. So far, I haven't been able to find examples of how this is done. Is this even possible? I'd prefer not to use any paid add-ons or powerups.
Drew, there are a few paid power-ups like Unito that can do this automatically. However, there is a simple way to change Jira status directly within Trello through smartlinks. If you add the Jira issue url into the card description then you can change status through the smartlink directly within the Trello interface. I recorded this quick demo
Hi Gaurav, thank you for the response. Unfortunately, your video did not attach correctly. It sounds like you mean clicking through the smartlink and updating the status on the Jira issue.

Yes, and I've reattached the video.

Thank you for reattaching the video. This could work for us. However, something I'm running into is that when my automation runs to create the Trello card, it doesn't convert the Jira issue link to a smartlink. I have to edit the description and re-paste the link to convert it to a smartlink. Here's what it looks like after the card is created:
Is there something I can do in the body of the request to the Trello API to force it to be a smartlink?
