How to search for comments on Trello (not just cards)?

Looking to have a view in Trello for new comments made in the last week, preferably sortable by the date the comment was made and/or the person who made the comment.

Per the "How to search for comments on Trello (not just cards)" thread this topic has been a question/desired Trello feature since 2017??

Hi Sara,

Thanks for reaching out!

To search for comments made in the last week, you'll want to use the edited:week search operator, in combination with comment:keyword. The will surface all cards edited within the past week, as well as match the keyword you've used for the comment: search operator.

More on that here: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/searching-for-cards-all-boards/

With that said, unfortunately, the search results won't directly show you the matched content in the search window. You will need to click into each card to see the card comments.

I understand that it would be helpful if you could see that matched comment within the search window, so I've flagged this as a feature request with the product team.

Please let us know if you have any other questions, and we'll be happy to help.

All the best,

Lara

Hello Lara,

Thank you for your feedback. When I was initially playing around with the "edited:week" search it was pulling in any cards I had clicked on/opened, regardless if I had left a comment or not. I will try to use this search option and see if that issue persists, because seeing cards that were opened but not commented does not meet my needs.

I am still surprised that searching for recent comments and not cards seems to be a requested feature for several years now. Where/when can the Trello community expect to have an update on implementing this feature please?

Thank you,

Sara

Hi Sara,

Hmm, just to confirm, are you also using the comment: search operator in your search?

In my testing, when I search for "edited:month comment:test", it only shows me cards that were edited in the last month and have a comment that includes the word "test".

As for an update on the feature request, I'm afraid I'm not able to provide an ETA as to when/if this feature would be available. Rest assured, we're tracking this request internally and our team is aware you'd like to see this feature in the near future.

Please let us know if you have any other questions, and we'll be happy to help.

All the best,

Lara
