How to convert a workspace member to a guest?

I started with the free Trello a while back. Over the months, I have added many users to my boards. With the switch to Workspaces, I set all the users to Workspace members so they could run Buttler automation. Now some automations are available to guests so that requirement is gone. Now I would like to "demote" all my Workspace members back to guests before I upgrade the account. (I don't want to pay for them!) I don't see an easy way to convert a workspace member to a guest. I know I can delete them all, but this would remove them from all the cards, which would be a bad thing.

How to convert a workspace member to a guest?

Oh, if I remove them from the Workspace, they go back to Guest.

Hey thanks for this but that's not what happened. I deactivated them as a workspace member and then was forced to reactivate them upon trying to make them a guest. Help?
