Delete custom fields on trello (pop up not appearing)

Hi 
All the advice that I've read for deleting custom fields in trello says a pop up should appear. A pop up does not appear.  Is there a way to work around that?

When I click on create a custom field all I can do is click on a previously made one or add a new one.

Hi Rhona! What do you see when you open the custom field settings and click on an existing field? Do you not see the option to delete the field?

Thanks for responding so quickly - a co-worker managed to help me out. 
I expect it to work like checkboxes works.
