Create card from email on trello board - Not working from mailing list

Sha November 15, 2018

Hi,

The issue we are having is when trying to add cards to our backlog based on a received email. Following this process: https://help.trello.com/article/809-creating-cards-by-email

When we email the listed email address directly a card gets created, but, when going through a mailing list we created the card does not get created.

Any ideas?

Few other pieces of information:

  • Other members of the mailing list are getting the email
  • We are using the "example+whatever6kk8islnj@boards.trello.com" email
  • We are not getting any "bounce" errors from our mail server

@Sha so you're saying that you added the board.trello.com email address as a member of the mailing list and the cards are not being created?

What mailing list software are you using for this?

Not sure. It's starting to look like the issue is on our side, emails not being sent outside the company emails, this is being investigated right now.

Will keep you posted.

Thank you for your answer.

Hi,

We fixed the initial issue and now our mailing list is sending emails to external email addresses. For example, is it sending an email to my gmail account.

We are using  Postfix SMTP server and mailman as a mailing list server.

Is there a way to figure out if the email is not being received by Trello or is being blocked for some reason?

Our IT team checked and said that they can see that our mailing system sent the message and that it was accepted on the other side. Screen_Shot_2018-11-23_at_9_41_09_am.png
