Cover Images, Max amount, sizes

I'm at the moment creating a Trello board for icons for our game, and after adding quite a lot of icons, Trello suddently removed all Cover images on that board.

is there a hidden max amount of cover images?
why?
(when this works again) is there a way to resize the cover images making it easier for me to get a good overview of them?
