Hello Trello,
When running some normal Butler functions as part of our processes we recieved the following error code:
Trello error: There are too many custom fields on the board. Remove some to add more.
After some testing and troubleshooting, we narrowed this error down to one specific custom field. When the specific custom field (checkbox) was selected the card would not perform its triggered function and copy the card to another board within our organization.
Has anyone else experienced a particular custom field breaking processes?
My experience is that there is a 50 field hard limit for custom fields but I would also advise my clients to try to limit the number of custom fields to keep things manageable.
How many custom fields do you have and how are you using them? (screenshot would help)
I have custom fields on two boards that are text, dropdown menus, numbers, and date & time.
The board with the butler rule set to copy a card to another board had 26 Custom Fields.
The board receiving the copied card has 50 fields. 21 of which import from the originating board. After consideration this is most likely the culprit.
I was using the Butler - Rule feature to remove 5 of custom field, and copy the card to another board.
After putting in a ticket with Trello and investigating the issue further myself, it appears that users on field one had added a new field that was trying to transfer to the second board. After deleting a unused field it fixed the issue. Now all should have to do is fix the rule to not include the new custom field on board 1.
