Adding a checklist to existing cards

Ana Ramirez April 30, 2024

We have multiple boards with lots of cards. I would like to add another checklist to all of the cards. Is there a way to do this with an automation? Or do I have to manually add it to every card?

There is a convoluted way to retrospectively add a checklist to all cards on your board.

Create a card called something like Checklist template

Add the checklist that you want to be added to all cards into this template card.  For this example, I'll call the checklist Mikes Test

Now for the automation:

To make it work.  Add a label called trigger to the Checklist Template card...

Some caveats.

  • The checklist limit is 100 so when it collects all the cards into links, it will only collect 100 cards on your board.  However, because the "collect all cards" function is collecting cards without the checklist, it means you can run this repeatedly to cover all cards if you have more than 100
  • This will kick of a lot of automation activity and will take a few minutes...
  • This will work on a board and would have to be repeated for each board.
