Add a new comment with a custom field's data using Butler

Nina Medlock April 20, 2021

Hello fellow Trello Nerds!

I'm trying to create a command using the Butler to do the following, but I'm not having much success.

When a custom field is changed or set, I would like a comment to automatically be added to the card. I need the comment to contain the data from the custom field that triggered the command.

For example:

When Custom Field Loan field Close of Escrow is set, post comment COE was set to {dateshort}

But I need the {dateshort} variable to be referring to the custom field data and not today's date.

Can anyone help me?

I figured it out!! Custom fields' data can be recalled by using the {{%customfieldname}} variable :) so for this I used the following Butler command:

when custom field "COE" is set, post comment "COE: {{%COE}}"

When I set the COE field to 4/21/21, it posted this comment:

COE: April 21, 2021 12:00 PM PDT
