I had been aware of the new ACA certifications for some time, but I must admit I didn't pay much attention to them. I thought these certifications were not intended for individuals who work with Atlassian products professionally (as an Atlassian consultant I mostly help our customers to implement the Atlassian products and I work with them as an admin on a daily basis).
However, recent news regarding the new certification designations caught my attention. Upon further investigation, I realized I couldn't have been more mistaken.
I decided to start with ACA-915 Atlassian Cloud Foundations, which seemed like a logical choice. I initially expected it to cover cloud organizations and sites - something like an easier version of ACP-520 Atlassian Cloud Organization Admin. Instead, this certification focuses on the fundamentals of all cloud products, their use cases, purposes, integrations, and available information sources and support options.
I learned a lot new information. While I mainly work with Jira, JSM, JPD, Confluence, Bitbucket and Trello, I had to look more into products like Compass. Also, despite being in the Atlassian ecosystem for several years, I had for example never heard of Atlassian Success Central.
It took me only a few hours to feel prepared for the certification. This was great! The ACP certifications I have completed typically required several days of preparation. I passed with a score of 96%, and I know exactly which one question I answered incorrectly - I realized too late that I had misunderstood it. But I must admit there were also other questions where I wasn't confident in my answers.
Overall, it was fun, I enjoyed it, it was also completed quickly, and most importantly, I learned something new. I highly encourage everyone to pursue this certification. As the new designations look good, I plan to pursue the other ACA certifications as well.
