there is a known bug in the current release. Try to close all tabs after starting Sourcetree and re-opening them. This should fix the update problem.

Updated: I still experienced this issue in 3.3.8 (had to hit F5 when I changed branches) till I tried @Chris Weber 's workaround to #1270390, which solved my issue with the Sourcetree GUI update AND branch views in the Win 10 file explorer. Thanks, Chris!
