Looking to learn how to use Jira as an Administrator to manage SCRUM projects
Welcome to the Community @Simi Fatoki and hope you'll find the useful helps here. :)
Hi everyone. My name in Nandi, I am from South Africa.
I have heard about JIRA but only used it to log calls to IT.
Currently I am just playing around with the JIRA Software product as I work in a project management office and we are looking at project management software to implement in our segment.
JIRA is implemented throughout the organization we are a part of and we are looking at what the license we have already can offer us.
We have teams of project resources in 6 different African countries and need to find a way to try consolidate all that and make it easier for the disparate and spread out teams to connect and align. Am interested in reading about how the community members are dealing with issues similar to mine in this group.
So far no funny stories to tell using JIRA but am looking forward to reading some from the community.
Hello @Fernanda Haughton , welcome to the Community and hope you will find a tons of useful information and fun here. :)

Found out about Jira early 2000's and started using around 2014.
Teams used Jira for many years. I'm now getting back into it after about three years.
I'm wanting to use Jira within Scrum process of an extremely large operations, so ramping up, learning, re-learning.
Interested Jira's use w/n Agile, DevOps CI/CD Pipeline.
Hello everyone!

Also, do you know if you can block a story from being moved to done if hours are not logged?
Hi folks, been using Jira for years but now as a manager I'll be using in a managerial capacity!
I'm quite fond of story maps, therefore, keen to see what's available for integrating with Jira.
Hello @Ian Klek , welcome to the Community!
Hope you will find the useful information here to help you succeed!
Hi All!
I started using Jira in 2016, as QA in department making Jira apps. I had to learn it and understand how it can be used - at that time it was mostly Server. It's been ups and downs, some frustrations - in some cases community was providing best solutions.
Over time it's awesome to watch the progress and see how Jira is changing.
Funny story:
First days of 2022, we were testing our app migrations to cloud, we use 1 script to clean Jira - with removal of all projects and issue data etc. By accident this script was used on our production cloud instance! Team come back from the holiday and everything is gone, some think they were removed from projects or we have being attacked by some hacker ... everything was gone.
While we were taking with Atlassian about the restoration, we came up with 1 conforming sentence: At least support is clean! ^^
We started from the lvl 0, with creating new projects for each app, new support projects etc. some of us even was excited that we can avoid all of the mistakes we made in the past and remove some of the configurations.
Luckily we get it all back and operational within few days. A reminder:
Cheers,
Łukasz
In the future, you should run backups with Gitprotect.io for Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket and JIRA - https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1225728/gitprotect-io-backup-for-bitbucket. :)
Hi all,

Hi Everyone!
As a Support Engineer with Opsgenie, Jira is one of our more popular integrations to help notify the correct users about new Jira issues, have Opsgenie alerts automate the creation of Jira issues, or both!
Automation rules are one of my favorite features. A pretty common ask is "How can we get the Jira issue linked to the Opsgenie alert?" Our new integration framework offers this, but a lot of customers continue to use the older framework for various reasons.
By default, the Jira issue link does not post in the Opsgenie alert through the older framework. But an automation rule can be configured to add a comment on the issue, which can then add a note in the Opsgenie alert, and include a link to the issue! The rule and example can be viewed below:
https://sitename.atlassian.net/browse/{{key}}
Automation rules are so powerful, so wanted to share one that we typically suggest to customers. Hope it helps!!
Great write-up @Nick Haller !
Hi Everyone!!!
First time I heard about Jira in 2019, when I was in collage, and around 2020 during pandemic I started learning the Jira Administration part.
I enjoyed Automation Part in Jira Cloud, it makes things very easy.
Welcome to the Community @Mayur Jadhav
Thanks @Srinatha T

Hey there! I'm very new to Jira, but I have used Trello and Asana in the past, so project management tools like this are familiar to me. I am learning Jira for my new job and so far I am liking it! Can't wait to keep learning.
Hey @Allison McIlmoyl Welcome!
Here is the Jira Software Cloud documentation site if there's any specific topic or feature you are interested in -> https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRASOFTWARE/Jira+Software+Documentation
Welcome @Allison McIlmoyl
Hello and Welcome, Allison!
Welcome to the community @Allison McIlmoyl !
Hello Everyone! 👋🏽 I have known about Jira and Atlassian for about 10 years now (only been a software engineer since mid-2018). Therefore, this is actually my 1st time using the product. I've used several other competing ones in the past. Currently, I am contracted on a team that is very remote, yet very Scrum-focused.
I felt that it was a very good time to actually learn and use the product, in order to give it a fair assessment. It is more mature than and not as stuffy as I thought it was. I'm excited 🥳 to learn how I can implement & tailor it properly with my own boutique firm while I am getting familiar with it a larger scale team.
If it is not already available, I think that a complete highly interactive LMS that uses cutting-edge aesthetics with different implementation scenarios would be an excellent way to self-learn the platform. I learn best by getting my hands dirty and I know that I'm not alone. Well, that's my spill. Take care! ✌🏽
I would recommend you start with the free course at Atlassian University to ramp up the product knowledge of Jira, when you begin with some hands-on and feel stuck with any features, it would be fairly easy to search on the Jira Documentation Site.
