Join the Beta launch for Atlassian’s new navigation today

Hi everyone,

The Atlassian navigation team has been relentlessly working to design a new, modern navigation system focused on consistency, flexibility, and efficiency.

Following the success of our Early Access Program (EAP) in October 2024, during which we validated key assumptions, gathered feedback, and learnt from the cohort, we’re now extending an open invite to all users for our Beta launch.

Simply click the link below to sign up with the following information:

  • The URL of the site where you’d like the new navigation enabled.

  • Are you an admin of the site?
As the new navigation is enabled at the site level, all users on the site URL will have it enabled by default. So we’re looking for admins to sign up to enable the new navigation at the site level.

  • What type of site will you be enabling the new navigation?

Frequently asked questions

Q: I’m a part of the EAP, should I still sign up?

If you’re part of the EAP we launched in October 2024, the new navigation will still be enabled on your site so you and your users can continue using it. You don’t have to sign up again for Beta.

Q: What products/tools will the new navigation be available in for Beta?

The new navigation's Beta launch will be available for Jira, Jira Product Discovery, Jira Service Management, and Atlassian Home.

Confluence navigation will be available later this year. When you sign up, you can let us know if you want to experience the new navigation in all the products.

Q: I’m not an admin. Can I still sign up?

If you’re not an admin, and you’re interested in participating in this Beta launch, you can:

  • Reach out to your admins

  • Sign up now and leave your admin’s details

Q: Where can I find the URL of my site to sign up?

The URL starts with https:// and ends with atlassian.net. You'll find this when you go to your Jira instance (see image below).

Q: Will everyone on my site be able to see the new navigation?

Since the new navigation is enabled at the site level, all users on the site URL will have it enabled.

Q: Can users on my site turn on/off the new navigation?

Don’t worry—you and your users can turn on/off the new navigation at any time in Jira Labs, and it won’t affect other users.

Q: Can I test the new navigation in my testing or Sandbox environment?

Yes, you can sign up to test the new navigation in your testing or Sandbox environment. When you sign up, you can indicate the type of site. If you’re unsure of the type, you can select “not applicable.”

Q: What are the next steps after I sign up?

We’ll enable the new navigation on the site you’ve provided soon. All you have to do is log in to your Jira site the way you normally would. You and your users will be taken on a tour that outlines what’s changed.

Cheers,
The Atlassian navigation team

Hi - thanks for this @Varsha Patel

Just to confirm. If I Sign up and when Atlassian enables the new navigation beta on my site, will it be enabled for all users by default?

If so, can we sign up for this BUT have it available under the Labs for our users to select and use it only if they would like to?

Thank you
Yatish

Hi @Yatish Madhav

Yes, that is correct. All your users on the site will get the new navigation.

Re: sign up for this BUT have it available under the Labs for our users to select and use it only if they would like to

We don't support that functionality as there are technical constraints around it. Users on the site can always turn it off if they don't want to use the new navigation.

OK thanks @Varsha Patel Understood. I will then sign up for a testing site that we have instead of production.

Thank you for that.

Also are the change comparisons on https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Navigation-Refresh-articles/Tour-the-new-navigation-via-the-Chrome-extension/ba-p/2709313 what will be part of the release? Perhaps add that in this article, please so that we can reference it?

Thank you again. Loving the refresh and the progress on it!

@Yatish Madhav Re: The change comparisons

The article you've linked is only for Chrome extension. We've now removed the Chrome extension and we're in the Beta launch.

For the Beta launch, please refer to the below:

Ah ok thanks @Varsha Patel - Funny that I just read those posts just earlier and watched / commented on them.

Thanks for that.

OK so the comparisons table in post I shared, even if it is from the initial Chrome extension, are all still relevant and part of what will be in Beta and then GA right? Just asking so that it still shows Atlassian "giving you a clear visual of what’s changed" instead of just what is new.

Thank you
Yatish

@Yatish Madhav There are major experience changes from the Chrome extension to the Beta launch now. That post was only for the duration of Chrome experiment, and is no longer valid for reference now.

Good call out on that, I'll edit it to make it clear.

Hi @Varsha Patel - we have had the new navigation UI installed in our Sandbox environment recently and first impressions are that I really like it.

I noticed the Jira application title that can be set via System > General Configuration > General Settings > Title does not work in beta at the moment - the specified application title is not being displayed. Are there plans to fix this for GA?

Also, your post mentioned that users could disable the new navigation via Jira Labs, but we don't have this option available in Jira Labs at the moment - will this be available for GA?

Hi @Varsha Patel

I hope this message finds you well.

I noticed that the option to disable this new navigation update is not available in Jira Labs in our environment. Could you please confirm whether this is a bug?

Your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Best regards.
