I was trying to push updates from Jira to salesforce. I was asked to input "Parent ID" and I input "Case Number".
On this one, on the error tab is says 'Parent ID' must be present. HELP

I am not sure why you are required to do this manually anyway. What solution are you using to integrate the two systems?
You can completely automate the flow using our integration app Exalate and just control everything from the "back end". Apologies for not being able to help in your specific case though!
