How to enable work log tracking when the issue transitions to in-progress status?

Hi There!

I'm wondering if it's possible to start tracking time when the issue transitions to in-progress?

I found this automation, but it logs time from Jira Automation user and not from assignee

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Marketplace-Apps-Integrations/How-do-I-auto-log-time-taken-for-an-issue-to-go-from-one-status/qaq-p/653104

Thank you for any help!

Hi @Yurii Moskalenko

Welcome to the community!

You can follow this video tutorial that shows you how to use jira automation to set sla times. You just need to determine when the timer would stop counting based on another transition.

Good luck.

Hi @Fabian Lim

Thanks for sharing, but this is not what I'm looking for.

I made automation, and it logged from Jira Automation user, whereas I need to perform an action from the assignee field. Is this possible?

Hi @Yurii Moskalenko

I don't think you can do that in automation. You want to try workflow postfunctions instead which allows you to run from the current user.  But most likely you will have to get a 3rd party plugin based on your requirements.

Thank you, @Fabian Lim

I will try postfunction

@Fabian Lim

Can't do this with postfunction. May you advise 3rd party plugin?

We are using Tempo.

Hi @Yurii Moskalenko

Can you please take a look at https://tempo-io.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/1225195594/Log+automated+work+on+a+Jira+transition.

This is an example of how a worklog can be created with the JIRA Automation option.

@Susanne Götz _Tempo_ Thanks! I will give it a shot.
