scrum rapid board 'start sprint' error: "Issues must be assigned."

After an import of an excel backlog, I try to start a sprint on the plan tab of the rapid board. This results in an error "Issues must be assigned." I don't understand (Obviously I don't know who will work on what, thats the point of a sprint, everyone might work on anything.)

Or did I forget to set something else in the import?

Take a look at "Allow unassigned issues" setting in your JIRA general configuration. Make sure it is ON.
