Hi @Janet Sands ,

When it comes to showing Subtasks on the Boards there are few things to consider:

1. If you have a Scrum Board (which I assume is the case) - you won't be able to display Sub-tasks on the Board, as this is restricted in Jira Cloud. If you're not tied to Sprints, best action here would be to create a new Kanban Board and use it instead.
2. If you have a Kanban Board but still can't see subtasks - you'd need to check the following things in the Board Configuration:

  • Do you have any unmapped statuses in you Columns page? If so, and these statuses are used by the Sub-tasks, you'd need to map them to corresponding columns, otherwise Sub-tasks with these Statuses won't show up on the Board
  • Check JQL filter associated with the Board and ensure it includes subtasks
  • Last, but not least, it's also possible that there can be a Security Level associated with them, which can prevent you from viewing certain tasks unless assigned Security Level conditions are met

Regards,
Nazar

Hi @Janet Sands

It depends on a number of things like the Board filter and the type of Project, Team vs Company.

Usually, subtasks are visible on a board unless you have specifically limited them in the Board filter.

Can you let us know the project type and share the board filter so we can assist you?

Hello Shawn,

The Board is a software project

Instance is a team managed instance not Company.

We are not able to see filters.

Thank you for your help!
