cleaning or resetting Activity stream

How can I clean activiy stream to start showing events after a certain date. Could any one tell me if performance will start to become slower after one year or not?

You never have to "clean" activity streams. Streams will not slow down when new activities are added to the system. If you're interested in only showing activities after a certain date, you can do so by using date filters (see http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Adding+the+Activity+Stream+Gadget). This will let you filter by absolute date; relative date filters (e.g. "show me activities since yesterday") are on the roadmap (https://studio.atlassian.com/browse/STRM-1804).

This is not really true. We identified some information leakage on the activity streams and it seems impossible to remove this, even if the source was solved.
