Hello @Kristi Healey

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

The native issue type hierarchy for Jira is

Epic
|-- standard level issues (i.e. Task, Bug, Story)
|-- subtasks

If you are using Jira Data Center or Jira Cloud Premium then it is possible to extend the hierarchy upwards above Epic.

Any issue can be a child of only one of the issue types in the level directly above it.

So the answer to your question depends on the Jira version/plan you are using and how your issue type hierarchy has been defined.

If the hierarchy does not support directly relating the task to a feature (assuming "feature" is another issue type), then you could relate them to each other through generic issue linking.

The second question to answer is what you would expect to happen in Jira when the two are "aligned"?
