While doing the importdata from JIra 3.12.3 to JIRA 4.4 we get this error.

This data appears to be from an older version of JIRA. Please upgrade the data and try again. The current version of JIRA is at build number '664', but the supplied backup file was

It sounds like you might be trying to do a Project Import, which only restores a project out of the backup file. Is that what you're attempting to do? If so, then as mentioned by the linked documentation, both JIRA instances have to be the same version.

If you're actually trying to restore an entire backup file, then you'll want to make sure you're in the Restore System menu.

  • 'Administration' > 'System' > 'Import & Export' > 'Restore System'
