When the developer changing the status of the jira ticket it is showing a validation for assignee feild as "Field 'assignee' cannot be set. It is not on the appropriate screen, or unknown."

The error message "Field 'assignee' cannot be set. It is not on the appropriate screen, or unknown." often occurs if the "Assignee" field is not present on the transition screen.

Ensure that the "Assignee" field is included in the screen associated with the transition you are attempting.

Error is occurring to the assignee field only, in the popup that occurred when the developer trying to change the status.

Hey @Gireesha Uppalapati 

Could you please share and validate the below details?

  • Screenshot of the error message.
  • Current Status of the issue and Destination status where you would like to transition the issue
  • Navigate to Project Settings >> Workflow >> Click on Edit Workflow next to the associated issue type and click on Transition that user is performing.
  • Check if there is any screen added to the transition and if the assignee field is added to it
