When creating an epic or a story, I get "Story Points is required"

When creating an epic, I got a "Story Points is required" on top of the screen. I didn't even have Story Points available for my Epics.

I have now configured by screen to add "Story Points" field and when creating an Epic to unblock epic creation while trying to resolve the issue. The field has red star next to it indicating it is required. 

I haven't changed anything and I don't have this in my screen configuration. 

Last week everything worked normally. 

The issue only exists for Epic and Stories types, when creating tasks or bugs, it is not appearing. 

It makes me think someone created it on top of my rules, is that possible? I am in a company-managed project. 

Any advice would be appreciated :) Thanks!

Hi @anna_charles ,

This can happen if:

1. The field configuration associated with the Story and Epic for the project(s) is made required. 

2. If your company is using Behaviours, a specific behaviour was added to make the field required.

For both these you need to ask a jira admin, that has access to the configurations and scripts to confirm.

it is possible that the field configuration of the Epic and Story has been changed, perhaps because it is shared with other projects.

check the fields configuration

You may need to check with your JIRA Admin. They may have added it and knowingly or unknowingly made this field mandatory.
