  • Does Atlassian University provide training for JIRA administrators?
  • If we have purched an unlimited license, can we have our business clients added to the user training?
  • In JIRA admin training (if available) and user training, what will be the course outline/ syllabus?

Hi Sameera,

We're looking into this issue, but we're still in the planning stages. Right now we are handling these requests on a case-by-case basis. So if you have a list of clients you would like to offer some of your licenses to who have a different domain, we can manually add them and give them access. You can contact atlassian-university@atlassian.com to find out more.

But just to clarity, right now Atlassian University is aimed at the end-user and not the admins. We may be adding admin training in future versions, however. I've attached the course and lesson outline below so you can see what is covered.

Hope this helps!

I asked Altassian this a while back - at first they suggested I bought a 10 person JIRA licence and 10 person Atlassian University licence to try the training out for myself.

Eventually they offered me a one month trial access to AU for JIRA - might be worth asking them if they can do this for you? I've not tried it out because it's only for JIRA 4.3 so it's no use to us until we upgrade.

They also sent me a screenshot of the classes you can see when you log in - I would have attached it if I could figure out how (it's not online) so here it is copied out:

  • Get to Know JIRA - Get familiar with JIRA'as interface and learn the basics
  • Work with Issues - Learn how to modify and perform actions on JIRA issues
  • Find Issues - Learn about the different ways you can find issues in JIRA
  • Personalise your Dashboards - Create and personalise your own dashboards to customise your view of JIRA
  • Monitor your Projects - Keep track of the JIRA projects you're interested in with reports and filters
  • Triage a List of Issues - Use filters and keyboard shortcuts to quickly organise, assign and prioritise a list of issues

Doesn't look like there's any admin training there. Also it doesn't seem possible to customise what courses are offered to users.

Re can we add business clients - that's one that interests me because we have customers set up in JIRA so obviously their email addresses do not match the domain name of our company which is how the FAQs say 'valid' users are invited.

I'd be curious to hear Atlassian's answer here - if we can't invite customers to the training on our own licence then do they have to purchase a JIRA licence themselves to get training? Seems crazy!

Thank you Thomas. I think Atlassin has to come up with a solution for the 'valid email' thing to enable us to invite our customers. Becuase if we can't provide a JIRA training for our clients who are the intended users, then there's no point of subscribing to University.
