Using Epic Link or Epic Name in Two Dimensional Filter

Has anyone been able to find a method to use Epic Link or Epic Name in the two dimensional filter statistics gadget? I was intrigued by the idea of creating a scripted field to store the Epic name and see if that was able to be used in this manner. Has anyone created that type of scripted field using Script Runner?

In order to use the two dimensional filter gaget you can only use Fields which have a set of distinct(defined) values (like select list, Check boxes and so on), free text field (like epic name) will not work.
