Upgrade from 4.2.1 to 4.4.1

Michael October 6, 2011

I have 4.2.1 installed on a Linux machine, can I use the upgrade script to go from 4.2.1 to 4.4.1? I tried it and after typing in the location of my old jira install directory it informed me it can't upgrade my installation. Is that because I am trying to jump too versions?

When upgrading a 4.2 installation, you should go for manual database migration or XML ecport/import. Checkout http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/JIRA+4.4+Upgrade+Notes#JIRA44UpgradeNotes-UpgradingaJIRA42xorEarlierStandaloneorJIRA43xorEarlierWARInstallation

Thanks.

I found a manual upgrade link in confluence that gave me the information I needed. I got upgraded to 4.4 with no problem. I am liking the work Atlassian has done to make upgrading easier the last couple of releases. Even doing it manually was quite simple.
