The Backlog button in the left hand pane was gone. Then came back, then gone again. No changes to issues with the "Planning" status were made during this problem. (See comments below for detailed repro)
URL to kanban backlog view redirects to kanban board when Backlog button is gone from left hand pane.

1 hour ago I switched the "Backlog"-status for a better named "To do"-status. The backlog button in the left hand pane has not yet reappeared.
Details:
Upon step 4, the backlog button in the left hand pane disappeared and has 1 hour after this not yet reappeared. (I hard-refresh using Ctrl+F5, also tried incognito tab)
Hello Andreas,
Indeed, it seems we have a new bug that is causing this odd behavior on JIRA boards. Here is the official report:
- Backlog tab missing due to having 2 Kanban backlog column
Since this is a new bug, we are still investigating what could be probably causing it. Can you please let us know what columns you renamed so we can better investigate the possible root cause?
For now, I suggest you create a new board and use the same project filter together with the same columns to display the exact same information as your current board.
Also, please feel free to watch the bug to be aware of any new workarounds or updates about its fix implementation.
Let me know if you still have any questions.

No probs, here's more info for you, I recreated the bug:
Additional info:
The "To do" column is visible in the "backlog" view, see below. That column is mapped to a "backlog"-status, which has a bad name because of legacy reasons, but has the purpose of being our our "todo/selected-for-development"-status.

Thank you very much for this useful data, Andreas!
We will provide this info to our developers so they can properly troubleshoot and fix this lack.
