Specify a remote repository

I'm using Luminous GitSuite plugin and I'm trying to connect to my git respository through Git Suite Project Configuration. I have to fill in 3 fields:

1.Repository Name

2.Repository Description

3. Repository Directory

I guess that i can use any names as Repo Name and Description , then I'm trying to specify my repository directory , I'm using remote repo so i'm trying this: username@ip_addres:/dir_to_repo but I'm not able to register my repo I'm getting following error "git@192.168.2.46:/asist/ast.git is not a Git repository" . Do you have any clue what I'm doing wrong ? Is it possible to use this plugin with remote repository at all ?

The documentation states a local respository and usually the authencation values would be separate fields, so I would guess it does not support remote repositories in this way.
