Show issues under linked issues, but when clicked on them, the access should be only to assignee?

We have 2 projects.

  • Issue of Project 1 is linked to Issue of Project 2.
  • When someone views Issue of Project 2, they should be able to see which all issues is this linked to.
  • But when someone clicks on those linked issues, we want to restrict the view issue access on that.

How can view issue be restricted only to assignee but those issues should be viewable under linked issues of other issues?

Hello Milan,

Unfortunately, this kind of functionality is not available on JIRA. There's no way to restrict issues from a user but keep their preview on a linked issue that the user is able to access.

That being said, a workaround would be to use a custom field to add this kind of information in the linked issues, so the user can check the preview of the inaccessible link issues in the custom field.

Please, let me know if you have any questions on how you can perform it.

Thank you @Petter Gonçalves. That workaround works, but it needs scripts/listeners that ensures that every time linked issues are changed/updated or the linking itself has changed, then the values in the custom field should be updated too. It's too much of script to write as well as manage.

Is there any other way of achieving this?
