Hello,

To prepare for the later archiving of a project that is phasing out, we would like to prevent people from creating new tickets in this project. For this, I would like the rights for this project to be set accordingly - remove the right to create tickets from everyone.

I have administrator rights, how can I do this?

Thanks for your help.

Hello @Bernard CATTIN

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Is the project a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? Get that information from the Type column on the View all projects page under the Projects menu.

For a Team Managed project you can modify the available permissions for Roles within the project. However, there are default Roles defined in Team Managed projects which you cannot modify. You would have to create new Project Roles by copying the existing Roles, change the allocated permissions in the new roles to prevent creation of issues, then change the Roles to which people are associated.

You may also need to change the overall Access setting of the project.

For a Company Managed project the permissions are allocated in a Permission Scheme. A Permission Scheme can be shared by multiple projects. You would need to determine if the project is currently sharing a Permission Scheme with other projects. If it is, then you would need to create a new Permission Scheme by copying the original. Then change the new Permission Schemem to deallocate the Create Issues permission. And Lastly associate that new Permission Scheme with the project.

Hi @Bernard CATTIN

Yes a JIRA Admin can update the permission scheme of your project and remove any role/group/etc .. associated with Create Issue permission. Make sure this permission scheme is not share with other project otherwise it will impact all of them.

@Florian Bonniec @Trudy Claspill Thank you for your very quick responses.

Since the permission scheme is shared with other projects, I understand that I have to create a new scheme in which I will deallocate the create issues permission.

I will try to do this and I will come back to you with the result.

Bernard.
