We create our users in the "JIRA Delegated Authentication Directory" directory so users can us AD / LDAP password to Login. When users leave the company I have to remove "jira-users" group because JIRA does not allow to deactivate users. User without "jira-users" group so indicate that the user is historic.
Why can't the "jira-users" group be removed from "JIRA Delegated Authentication Directory" users?
It can, but you need to replace it with another group, or set of groups, so that Jira knows "people in this group can log into Jira"
So there has to be at least 1 group with Global Permission "JIRA Users" (which has group "jira-users")? It is not possible that a user has no group (which in my company was the indicator that the user is disabled in JIRA <= 4.2.x).
So we have to wait another few years for:
