Pasting text and images into description and from description to email.

andrew_depiante_gm_com March 5, 2025

Hello,

I would like to paste text and images (say from an Outlook email) into the description field. However, when I do so, only the text is carried over and blank space is left where the image was.

Similarly, when I copy the description field, containing images and text, and paste into Outlook or Word, only the text comes over.

Has anyone figured out a work around for this? It is really frustrating!

Hi @andrew_depiante_gm_com

I know this is not exactly what you're looking for, but a possible solution would be using Word (.docx or .ODT) documents as a Jira issue/work item description.

That way you could easily copy/paste content from Outlook or other word files into Jira.

You can do that using this free Office Editor app for Jira. Check here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1233553/microsoft-office-editor-for-jira-excel-word-powerpoint?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

It's a work around, but maybe it can be useful for your workflows. :D
