Cloud based instance.  The project I am trying to create automations for are within a NextGen software project.

I need to have the values of two custom fields within the Epic pulled down (cloned or auto-populated) into all child Tasks.  The two fields in question are available on both issue types.

I am having a tough time trying to navigate automation to get this setup.  Any and all ideas or advise is welcome.

Thanks!

Hi @Alyse Dawson -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

For a question like this, context is important for the community to help.  Please post the following:

  • an image of your complete automation rule,
  • images of any relevant actions / conditions / branches,
  • an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution, and
  • explain what is not working as expected.

Until we see those...

FYI the NextGen projects are now called Team-managed.  That may help you search / find answers in the community and documentation.

For your rule, you could trigger it on Issue Created, and then edit the issue to Copy from Parent for the fields needed.  I recommend adding the Re-fetch Issue action immediately after that trigger to confirm the data is loaded before the edit.

Kind regards,
Bill
