One of my customers tried checking their Jira version (Help --> About Jira). This is what he got:

It's difficult to get JIRA version number from the information that you have provided. JIRA version number is actually available on the Admin >> System Info page. 

And the "About JIRA" shows:

I would also have expected to see the version number on "About JIRA" as you do. 

However, thx for pointing to "System Administration". Will ask my customer checking there...
