Jira merge - Target jira Project type need to be same as Source.!!!

On importing projects does Target project type need to be same as source project type as it asks to select on project creation.

For example Agile Scrum as Agile Scrum only.

Is this Mandatory or optional to select same project type.? as we can change schemes later...

Project type is just a template, it doesn't have any effect after you create the project.

However, what you do need to do is make sure the target project is compatible with the data in the source - check all the schemes in use are compatible and all the custom fields are the same.
