Hi All ,
My company is planning to acquire the Jira sevice desk knowing that we have the Jira software .
If we buy Jira Service Management , do we need to migrate data from Jira Software to Jira Service management ?
Thank you for your support .
Best ,
Mohamed
You can have both products run on the same instance of hardware so there is no need to migrate unless you are setting the server up on separate hardware. Even then I don't know for sure what you would migrate since they are different products. We use the service desk for support and intake and then software for our internal teams to resolve project, application, etc. work that is derived from the service desk. You can then easily tie the work to the service request so it can be track and the customer kept up to date.
Thank you @Brant Schroeder for your feedback . I'm just wondering if there is a migration of existing customer requests to the customer portals in order to let them follow their existing requests . Have you any idea ?

You can defiantly move current issues into your service management project. Once you assign them a request type (as part of the move) they will be available in the customer portal. You will need to have the project open to all customers or you will have to add each customer to the project as well so they can access the issue in the portal.
