Jira Automation: send email function - where are sent emails located?

Mark Tobin February 18, 2025

Hi everyone....I've set up a Request Management automation rule incorporating the Send Email function and it's working as designed but I can't see the email attached to the request. Does anyone know if saving a copy of the email to the request via automation rules is standard functionality, configurable through automation or just does not exist.

Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no standard function for this - and no standard way to do what you describe.

  • I don't think there is any built-in feature to attach the outgoing email.
  • I don't think automation can add an attachment.

Workaround idea; change your automation to copy the email text to an issue comment.

Your question is for Jira, but I would note that even Jira Service Management does not provide a log of outgoing email (even for Jira administrators):
