there should be option to sort the tickets based on the ticket status at least in timeline - manually drag and drop is time consuming as to identify bugs with status - will be easier if its given in status sort - epic level
Hi @Saranya J
In the backlog section, this activity is left to scrum masters or product owners and such roles to decide what activity should be picked by the development team to start working on the tasks.
We call this sorting ranking in Jira, where you get a chance to reorder the issues based on the priority set by customers/end users.
Hence you don't see that feature here where you will be able to sort the issue.
Once you have reordered the issues in the backlog section, you will be able to see the same order in the other places such as one in the timeline or boards section in Jira.
Hope this clarifies.
Thanks,
Pramodh
Hi @Pramodh M @John Funk :
For the internal engineering team, where i want to see the list of tasks under each epic in timeline to be sorted by status .
Having backlog timeline and task added based on priority will be useful only on that instance, however when the leads wants to quick check the progress by CTO or CEO on mgmt levels i cant go and check and sort each epic or use filters
And for a startup there will be n no of epics WIP in parallel

Hi Saranya,
If nothing else you could add a Quick Filter for each status and view them one at a time as needed.

I don't think you are going to currently be able to keep the hierarchy structure when you do a filter like that on the timeline.
