Is there a way to allow anonymous users to access boards or timelines in Jira Cloud?

Hi!

I want to share boards or timelines within a Jira Cloud project with anonymous users.

I followed the instructions provided in this link:

Allow anonymous access to projects

However, it didn’t work at all.

I’m not entirely sure why it’s not working, but I haven’t verified my domain yet, nor have I made any specific security setting changes. I’m unsure if this could be related.

Is there no simple way to make the project public or allow users to access and view the project without logging in, as described in the link above?

Do users still need to log in to view boards and timelines in a Jira Cloud project?

Thank you!

Hi @임동규

Welcome to the community.

This should work as per the article, are you sure all settings have been applied correctly.

Also boards and specific project features can't be used by anonymous users. See the blue information part at the bottom of the article.

You aren't on a free plan right, because only paid plans can make use of this article.

Thank you for your response. @Marc - Devoteam

I overlooked the blue section at the bottom. After applying the settings, I tried accessing the board URL as an anonymous user, but access to the board was not possible. I also attempted to access a specific issue URL, but it still required login credentials.

I have configured everything exactly as described in the provided link. One thing I suspect is that I have not yet completed the security settings in Atlassian Administration. Specifically, I have not set up domain verification or similar configurations under the authentication policies.

Additionally, the current plan is “Standard,” but it is still in the trial phase as payment has not yet been made.

Could this issue be related to the above?

Thank you

Hi @임동규,

Welcome to the community.

I did not try this recently, but it should work, as per that article. Perhaps you are missing a setting or something. Make sure you don't have the FREE plan, because this is only possible with the non-FREE plans. Eventually you could open a ticket with Atlassian Support for assistance.

But what do you want to display, more exactly?

If you just want to display the project board showing the issues, an alternative would be to use a plugin from Atlassian Marketplace.

In case you consider the idea of using a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers a Team Wallboard gadget that can be used to display a project board on a dashboard and, if you make the dashboard public, then your anonymous users will see the issues on this gadget without being necessary to have access to Jira projects.

The colors can be customized. The gadget supports swimlanes and quick filters.

If this helps, please contact us at support@stonikbyte.com to enable this feature for you.

Danut.

Hello! Thank you for your response. @Danut M _StonikByte_

I’m still testing various options, and this seems like it could be a good alternative. I’ll definitely consider it.

Thank you!
