In Backlog why does JIRA not have a link button to link tasks to a user story? Had to go to Board.

In Backlog why does the premium 30 day trial of JIRA not have a link button to link tasks to a user story? One has to go to the Board to link the Tasks once I placed them in progress. Is this just because it's the trial version? Trying JIRA as an alternate to other Agile project management tools I use.

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

That is not impacted by being on a trial version.

While the options is available from the actions menu in a board...

...it does not appear to be available from the actions menu in cards in the backlog.

I have not found a bug or change request about that in the Atlassian public backlog yet.
