I used to have access as an admin to change the reporter

I used to have access when logged in as an admin to change the reporter on a ticket - now I don't. I've checked all screens and see Reporter on the screen. thoughts? Help?

Did you checked that you have the permission "change author" in the permission scheme for that specific project?

Do you have an extra screen for editing issues?

Yup I validated that and even added the project lead. The reporter field still does not show up on Editing the issue or any screen it should be seen on. The field is even marked as required too.

Nope - I've confirmed it is using the same screen for creating, editing, viewing and default in general. That screen I've called Jira Default just to distinguish from other things and so I can confirm what fields - all of the fields I want are showing except for Reporter. :(
