I have a project, let's call it Project Inventory, that currently has 1 board. Let's call that board living room. I created another kanban board so i could separate out the tasks but all the tasks from the living room board are copying over to the new board. How do i keep them separate but in the same project?
Hello @Taleah Bogle
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Boards display issues based on a filter that selects the issues.
If you want only a subset of the project's issues to display on the new board then you have to use a filter in that board that selects only the issues you want to show.
What is unique about the "living room" issues that you could use to identify they should be excluded from the new board?
Or, what is unique about the issues you want to show in the new board that you could use to select only those issues?
Hi Trudy!
Thank you for your response. The issues I want on the new board will be related to a different body of work. But still being worked on by our team, hence keeping them in the same project.
In terms of the filter, would it be better to filter by EPIC or component?

How you filter depends on the data available in the issues you want to include, or the issues you want to exclude.
If your Epic list is static and unchanging, using that for your filter is certainly an option.
If you Epic list is going to be dynamic then using Component may be a better option. However you would have to add the Component value to ALL the issues you want to include; Epics, child issues, and subtasks.

Interesting, thanks for providing that clarity. Is there any other way to display specific issues on a board?

The filter for the board specifies which issues to include in the board. You can use whatever is allowed in filtering to select the issues. You are not limited to selecting based on Epics or Components.
