How to integrate dta center jira with cloud JIRA

Gurinder Summan March 16, 2024

We are migrating from server to cloud and moving few projects from server to data center and few in cloud. Is there any way to establish a connection between data center and cloud project workflow.

Hi @Gurinder Summan

I am Christophe a solution engineer @Exalate

With Exalate you can easily establish a connection between Jira Datacenter & Cloud

The solution boasts a unique, decentralized approach to integrating various work systems together while providing full autonomy to each side of the connection.
Using this full autonomy, you can easily send your Datacenter tickets to your cloud instance.
you can use Exalate for a bi & uni-directional synchronization, you decide which fields and values you send over and receive.
If you would like to discuss your use case further or look at the product in action, please book a demo and we will be happy to assist further.
Happy syncing,

Hi @Gurinder Summan

As Trudy has mentioned, application tunnels are one option.

If this isn't sufficient, I'd first question why all issues cannot be moved to one instance - is it not possible to have all data in Cloud (for example)? What are the limitations here?

You could also consider using an App to sync data between the two instances, or visualise multiple instances' data in one location?

Check out Apps from the Marketplace such as...

Hello @Gurinder Summan

Are you familiar with Application Links, which let you connect Jira Server to other systems?

There is special support for connecting Atlassian Cloud applications like Jira to self hosted Atlassian products like Jira Data Center. Refer to this document for information about Application Tunnels.

https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/what-are-application-tunnels/

Your Jira Data Center system must be accessible from the Internet to support this. That would mean changing your firewalls to allow traffic from the Atlassian Cloud network. There are details about that in the document link I provided, and the related pages.

@Gurinder Summan hi. Yes, you can. There are options - as mentioned above. Just to add another option - ZigiOps. It's a fully no-code integration platform that will connect your Jira instances (server &data) and will allow the easy and fast sync/transfer of data (workflows). No additional coding, no limitations in the amount of data migrated and it's totally safe (ZigiOps does not store any of information that is transferred). Feel free to explore it.

Regards, Diana

Hi @Gurinder Summan ,

could you please specify your question?

If your question is related to workflows then yes. You can always use webhooks during a workflow transition. As long as your on premise instance has access to the web, your two systems can connect.

But since you started your question with migration from server to cloud, I sense you might have a different intention...

So please specify a little more and I'm sure someone in this great community will be able to help.
