How to disable text attachment previews, or just download them!

My users attach .txt log files to JIRA tickets to help me diagnose the problem.  But there's no straightforward "download attachement" button so I can download the attachement. Instead I'm forced to click on the file icon, wait for it to load into a seriously over-engineered file viewer, then press the download button.  This is real problem when the logfile is 50MB in size.

How do I disable the file previewer and simply download the file contents?

It is not currently possible to disable the attachment previewer, and there is a suggestion to add that capability.  You can review the suggestion and vote for it here:
