How to disable in-tab ticket views as a user preference?

I really hate how JIRA insists on trying to open a useless mini view of tickets in the current tab, so small that I can't see most of the fields.

How can I configure my user preferences so that clicking on a ticket name opens the ticket in a new browser window/tab, the way 99.999% of the Web works?

1.) Hold Control (CTRL) + Left click (Mouse) on the JIRA issue #
