How do I populate the Roadmap from Backlog items?

I see how entering issues into the Roadmap creates issues in Backlog. However, the JIRA tutorial says to start with the Backlog. So now I have a lot of Backlog issues, and want them plotted on the Roadmap. However, I'm not seeing any way to add anything in the Backlog or the Board to add it to the Roadmap.

thanks

Hello Doug,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

For issues to appear in the Roadmap, it's necessary to link them to an Epic.

After that, it will show an option to expand the Epic and the child issues will show in the roadmap.

Are the issues in the backlog already linked to an Epic? If that's not the case, please open the ticket and on … click to add a parent.
